Our client runs an ECD school and are currently looking for a hardworking and self-motivated individual to fill the position below:

Position: Kindergarten Headmistress

Job Description:
  • Directs activities of the school or other child development facility to provide instruction and care for children
  • Authorizes purchase of instructional materials and teaching aids, such as books, toys, and games designed to stimulate learning. Plans, directs, and monitors instructional methods and content for educational, vocational, or student activity programs
  • May perform classroom teaching duties during absence of regular teacher and counsels and provides guidance to students
  • Establishes, reviews and approves new programs or recommends modifications to existing programs
  • Coordinates outreach activities with businesses, communities, and other institutions or organizations to identify educational needs, and establish and coordinate programs
  • Liaises with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioural or learning problems.
  • Leads and manages the teachers and other staff
  • Manages staff performance and rewards
  • At least 10 years working experience
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in school administration preferably deputizing a reputable kindergarten or ECD centre
  • Age 35 years and above
  • A degree in Education upper second class
  • Should have a Kenya Headmistress Association Diploma or Early Childhood Degree from a reputable University
  • Must have strong references and track record
  • Must be a strong leader with demonstrable management skills
  • Must demonstrate creative ideas in working with small children
  • Must have excellent organisation skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in computer use for record keeping; data entry; report writing; letter writing and worksheets/exams. Design is an added advantage.
  • A Diploma from Kha or Amicus College is an added advantage.
