Generator Technician

Action Africa Help Uganda: AAH-U, a non-profit making agency that implements health and development projects in Uganda, seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative development leaders for the following vacancies:
 
Job Title: Generator Technician 
(01 position)
 
Duty Station: Adjumani
 
Job Summary: To perform maintenance, installation, service and repair to a varied range of generating sets, diesel generator control systems and associated equipment including turbochargers and fuel injection equipment located at various site locations in Refugee Settlements in West Nile region in line with AAH Uganda and Donor Guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Develop and maintain a generator maintenance program/plan for all field sites in line with set vehicle/machine operational guidelines.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, repair and perform general maintenance on all generator equipment and adjustments of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and installations.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and assistants under control carry out all works to required standards
  • Inspect and test generators to ensure safety, report irregularities and equipment abuse to the Workshop Manager for further management.
  • Prepare annual generator equipment inventory reports in line with reporting guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit generator repair/maintenance monthly reports.
  • Compile spares or materials lists for work assigned to ensure adequate hand tools are provided to carry out duties
  • Communicate all issues/incidents and risks to Management to allow adequate investigation and resolution in line with AAH-I Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • Carry out weekly, monthly and quarterly site visits as and when requested by stakeholders through the Workshop Manager, in line with AAH Uganda and Donor guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Competencies;
  • Analytical skills
  • Computer skills in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet usage
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently with demonstrated
  • Ability to work in team
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering with a Certificate in Generator Maintenance, Fault Diagnosis and Trouble Shooting, Certificate in Mechanical Pump Installations or related qualifications from a recognized university or Vocational Training Institute.
  • Minimum of 03 years’ experience with practical and electrical engineering skills, and proven ability as Mechanical Fitter,
