Summary: Our client is a FMCG company looking for a skilled FMCG related candidate for a Business Developer job position.

Job Summary: The Business Developer will be responsible for visiting, comprehending and analysing the business environment and market trends in East Africa in order to develop the company’s brand penetration and market share within the area.  

Work in partnership with the local distributors in East Africa in order to find innovative and efficient ways to help boosting the brand business. Around 60% of the job time will be spent in business trips throughout the region. 
Primary Responsibilities:
Market Intelligence 
Regular field visits to understand and analyse local market trends for each product category (Stationery, Shavers, Lighters, and other products)

Business Development

Analyse business model of the local distributor
  • Distribution Network and route to market
  • Customer and Product portfolio
  • Employee efficiency

  • Sales and Marketing Actions
Develop and Support Local Distributors
  • Train and support local sales team, product knowledge, field visit
  • Respond to and follow up sales enquiries
  • Plan and prioritise personal sales activities and customer/prospect contact
  • Lead and manage the distributor relationship with Key Accounts
  • Define marketing plan with distributor and Area Business Manager
  • Follow up marketing activity and brand support allocation
  • In Market sales (IMS) analysis 
Identify Business Opportunities
  • Distribution Channels
  • Product Mix
  • Marketing Actions (POSM and Promotions)
  • Report activities, data, results and experience on a weekly basis.
Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business related study.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales and marketing within FMCG in developing markets
  • The candidate must have prior experience in sales and marketing within FMCG.
Desired Skills and Attributes:
  • Hard Working, rigorous, and able to work autonomously
  • Advanced understanding of MS Office especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to analyse and provide clear recommendations
  • Well organised, able to prioritise
  • Analytic, accurate and quick interpretation of figures
  • Business and Results Orientated with proven negotiation skills
  • Real abilities to build good constructive work relationships among foreign cultures
  • Special talent at managing and motivating multi-cultural sales teams.
Additional Requirements:
The incumbent must be fluent in English, Knowledge local languages advantageous
Must be willing to travel extensively within the region (60% of the time)
